NOTE TAKING METHODS

There are many methods of taking notes; one of the effective techniques of note taking is the Cornell System.  In this method the layout is slightly different compared to other methods as it has a margin at the left of the page and then at the bottom, as Mr. Rehan taught it to us. This is divided into 3 sections one is the Cues on the left hand side of the page, Notes on the right hand side of the page and at the bottom the summary. The Picture below shows a clear idea of what I was talking about.

Firstly during lectures we use the right hand side which is the notes section, in this side you basically record details while the lecture is going on, where u can use symbols to make it easier for you to understand and make things simple.
Secondly after the lectures and during review we use the left hand side of the page which is the cues section, in this we write down the main ideas, points or diagrams that make you remember the stuff you learnt.
Thirdly after the lectures and during review we use the bottom most part of the page which is the summary section in this we write down the summary of all what we learnt during the lectures in a few key-points.

The 5 steps of taking notes using cornels note taking system:

  • Record
  • Reduce
  • Recite
  • Reflect
  • Review

Blooms taxanomy

Bloom’s Taxonomy
According to my bright box website (2012), the 5 levels of blooms taxonomy are:
Knowledge and Comprehension: - This mainly tells us about the recalling of information, observation, understanding, translating, summarizing and discussing.

Application: - In this it is how we use and apply knowledge and methods to solve problems.

Analysis: - This where we identify and analyze patterns and the organization of the ideas.

Synthesis: - In this we use the old concepts to create new ideas.

Evaluation: -  In this level we compare ideas and evaluate  the outcomes.

Self evaluation

On 13th of March the first thing  for LFS Mr. Syed Rehan did was to make planes out some papers he gave us, told to make a plane which and it should fly and also hit the white board. So we all created various models some were long, most of them were in odd shapes some of them fly some didn’t. A few peoples plane came close to the board but others couldn’t even my plane couldn’t reach it just spin and crashed. The actual meaning of flying rockets was that Mr. Syed Rehan trying to show us that everything depends on a structure, it is due to this structure and the proper shapes or the alignment could lead to a good job or a proper flight without crash landing.  It is the same in our life at school our teachers guided us to create the foundation of our life after that it is us who have to create the remaining structure for a successful life.

Time management

Time is money
Is being punctual something important????
Being Punctual is something which is very important in everyone life, most of the lecturers hate when students come late for lectures. I am not punctual at most of the instances but i try my best in coming in time. Simple tip to be in time, firstly to increase the time  by ten to fifteen minutes, by doing this you could always be in time I have tried it  and it works.

According to life hack website (2012) Punctuality shows:
Mastery
Competence
Integrity
You value people
You value yourself

Reflective blog

Reflective blog = normal diary
Web + log = Blog

The difference between reflective blog and the normal diary according to (Quinn creative website, 2012) is that a diary is a report which states of all activities which happened during the whole day, details of who did what and who met who. A diary is somewhat similar to a newspaper about you.
Whereas a reflective blog is similar to a normal journal, a journal is about examining of all positive and negative you have faced during the whole day. “Journals lead to insight, growth, and sometimes, achieving a goal” (Quinn creative website, 2012).
